The FAR was back on an international scouting mission on May 12! This time, we headed to Belgium!

A wonderful delegation from the RAR flew out to explore the Namur en Mai Festival.

Thank you to the CALQ for promoting street arts, so we came back with our heads full of ideas.

It’s truly amazing to see that, as it celebrates its 10th anniversary, the FAR now reaches far beyond our borders. Building on the momentum and interest the Festival is generating around the world, we hope that this international recognition will also help drive progress here at home.

We continue to believe in it and to spread the word—more and more, and farther and farther!

From 16 to 20 March, Soraya Martinez Ferrada, Mayor of the City of Montreal, will lead her first major economic mission to South Korea.

The City of Montreal, the Montreal Arts Council and the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal, with the support of the Quebec Delegation in Seoul, have invited the cultural industries to join this business mission.

It is with great pride that Léa Philippe, on behalf of FAR [Festival des arts de ruelle & Diffusion FAR], will take part in this trip, to raise the profile of street performing arts.

It will also be an opportunity to catch up with our friends from the Seoul Street Art Festival and the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture, as well as Masterpiece-s and Lumos Theatre, who will be showing Léa around the Seoul Street Arts Creation Centre, a venue dedicated to street performance arts—a concept that is currently non-existent in Quebec.

Quebec singer and actress Francesca Gagnon brought the 9th edition of the FAR Festival des arts de ruelle to a brilliant close on September 7 with her show La Voix d’Alegria se raconte, accompanied by several musicians, including René Dupéré, the composer of Cirque du Soleil’s legendary work. It was impossible to remain indifferent to the magical chemistry between Léa Philippe and the artist during this memorable moment. It is therefore with immense pride that we officially announce: Francesca Gagnon is joining the FAR by becoming its Godmother!

Earlier this year, the FAR was approached by South Korea, which recognizes the Festival des arts de ruelle as THE benchmark for street performance in Quebec. This meeting led to a partnership with the Seoul Street Art Festival, coming to life this year.

Two groups of Korean artists, Lumos Theater and Masterpiece-s, performed at #FAR2025, bringing their unique touch to Montreal’s alleyways.

Now it’s the Festival’s turn to head to South Korea! L’Élite de la glisse (Catherine Côté-Moisescu, Marie-Soleil Beaupré-Savard, Sébastien Bénès, Léa Philippe and Marie Perna) and Le Lierre Marchant (Hippolyte) will bring the streets of Seoul to life with their performances!
